The 5th - 8th grade music students at ASJM have been delving into the rich and diverse varieties of music produced by Black Musicians throughout the history of recorded music. Students were assigned an artist to research in depth and create a presentation on. Each student then posted their presentation online to their Google Classroom page so other students may learn from it. Finally, students would choose three other musicians from their classmates presentations to listen to and write a review about.  Now, students are learning about the history of recording technology with regard to music.

The primary grades were lucky enough to have a few moms and grandma offer their
artistic creativity for Art classes the second half of the year. We have made 3-
dimensional hot air ballons and hedgehogs. The students are asked to follow step by
step instructions to make sure each project pops off the page correctly. It has been an
interesting and fun way for the students to see just how capable they are of following
along AND being independently creative. We can’t wait to see what will be made next!
