Wow! It seems I blinked and it’s November 2nd already! Second grade has been busy working and learning and having fun while we do it.

First, we’ve been exploring many math topics. Comparing numbers, rounding to the nearest ten, addition and subtraction strategies, fractions, probability and adding and subtracting with and without regrouping are just some of the things we’ve been working on. We will be doing graphing and geometry in the coming weeks. I love it when I hear the students tell me that they love math! It’s so important.

Next, we’ve been developing our reading and writing skills. Always beginning with a T-Chart for brainstorming, we’ve been working on sequence words, developing sentences and paragraphs, writing opening and closing sentences, and becoming more independent spellers. Always encourage children to write in a journal at home as often as possible. Practice makes better!

Finally, we want to thank Mrs. Mikulis for all of her hard work in organizing the fun Halloween Happening. A good time was had by all! Now we prepare for Thanksgiving and the Christmas play.

Second grade is a busy year as the children prepare for their Sacraments.
