Even though it has only been a short time, we are off to a wonderful beginning. We began our school year with an awesome school Mass celebrated by Bishop Sweeney. We were truly blessed to have him officiate our first school Mass of the year and we were genuinely inspired by his words of encouragement and wisdom to help guide us through the upcoming year.

This year we welcome Miss Serena Mancini to our first grade family. Miss Serena is spending the school year with us as our class aide as she pursues her Masters Degree in school counseling. She is also working with our Guidance Counselor. She is truly an asset to our class.

It always amazes me to see how quickly first graders adjust to their new classroom and routines. We know that reading is the most important subject in the life of a first grader. We continue to learn more about reading strategies and improving our decoding skills. We’re remembering to start sentences with capital letters and end them with the correct punctuation.

We love using our Chrome Books and we are working on becoming “Math Wizards” with the help of our IXL program. We’ve many future accomplishments ahead of us. This year, once again, promises to be filled with amazing growth and lots of fun!

In closing, the ASJM first grade would sincerely like to thank the St. James parish community for the generous support that you provide to our school. As we look forward to the holiday season, we wish you a blessed season filled with cherished memories with family and friends.

Blessings to you,
Joanne Bauman & ASJM Grade 1
