Ms. Raftery - Teacher

Welcome to 4th Grade!

Welcome to a new school year! My name is Ms. Kelly Raftery, and I am thrilled to be your child’s fourth grade teacher. I am looking forward to a great year full of growth, fun, and learning.

I grew up in Passaic County, New Jersey and when I’m not teaching, I enjoy shopping and spending time with my friends and family. I am blessed to be working here at the Academy of St. James as I already feel so supported by staff, students, and families.

I graduated from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT with a Bachelor of Art in Interdisciplinary Studies. I then obtained my master's in education with a cross-endorsement certification in special education.

Fourth grade is a pivotal year where students build on foundational skills and begin to think more critically and independently. It's a time for developing stronger problem-solving abilities and deepening their understanding of key subjects like math, reading, and science. Our class will focus on fostering creativity, collaboration, and a love for learning to help students thrive academically and socially.

My goal is to help your child learn, grow, and have fun! In our class, we are a TEAM that supports and accepts one another. I believe that the best learning happens when children feel comfortable and happy. I look forward to working together as a team to create a memorable and successful school year for your children!
