Hello, my name is Mrs. Joanne Bauman and I began my teaching career in the Newark Archdiocese school system upon completion of my graduation from St. Thomas Aquinas College earning a B.A. in History / Elementary Education (K - 8).
Currently I am the first grade teacher at ASJM, a position I’ve held for the past nineteen years.  Prior to first grade I was the Kindergarten teacher here at the Academy for three years.  During my career I’ve taught all elementary grade levels except second and third and I am fortunate to say that I'm now beginning my 22nd year here at the Academy and still love what I do! I have seen many changes in education over the years. One thing that has remained the same is the excitement about learning that young children bring to school.

I can truly say that I love my job.  Yes, there are difficulties and challenges, as there are with all things, but seeing the smiling faces of my “little ones” and hearing “Mrs. B.” called out makes it all worthwhile. It makes me so happy to know that I not only get to share my excitement for learning with my students, but I can also encourage them in their walk with Christ on a daily basis.

 I believe in the educability of all students and I hope that I do inspire and motivate them with a love of learning. I also hope to provide them with life long skills and practices that will help to create eager and independent learners.
